As I was playing Animal Crossing today because my job didn't call me in and it was 25 degrees outside, and also because it was slightly humming my name, drawing me to it, I began to contimplate over the past several years. The thought came over me, why do Gemini and myself still talk about this game and continue to podcast about it? True, we do stray from the topics quite frequently, and Gemini did spark my interest when he suggested we give the show a new name and new direction. But the thing is that people don't like change, except when it comes from Barak Obama. Recently we have had a surge of people, a suprising amount, sending in their friend codes for WILD WORLD, the ds version. This is both frustrating and interesting to us both, as we wonder where these people have been hiding for 3 plus years while we begged for people to send in friend codes and participate in contests. Perhaps the release of City Folk encouraged people to pick up the old version and give it a whirl. But with the number of Wii owners out there, regardless of how often they play them, and with the new WiiSpeak, you would believe City Folk is the obvious choice. One thing Nintendo is good at is getting us mindless zombies to buy stuff. The WiiGun, WiiRacing Wheel, mario this and that, Wiipoints, Wiimote condoms, Wii internet. Just take a game and change the cover and tweak the game and sell millions more. I think all of us agree that City Folk was a dissapointment. It's the same game we all came to love, and that's pretty much it. We love the forums and the podcast, but in reality there are other bigger and better games out there. Animal Crossing is a big part of my heart and the sole reason I bought a Wii, but sadly have found no one to use my WiiSpeak on so far.
Basically, I just wish that the game was so much more that what we received. I really wanted to be able to give everyone awesome tips and tricks and brand new matierial, but have found very little to flesh out. On the other hand, we do have many new listeners and I don't want to deprive them, and Gemini and myself have found out many things to help in the game and gotten many good suggestions from listeners and sometimes we don't stress that enough in the show. Most tips and tricks work with both games (since there is no difference). I don't want our collective knowledge go to waste, so I'm going to try and compile the best tips and tricks and all things Animal Crossing knowledge into one forum thread so that listeners and forum goers alike, far and wide, new and old, can have one place as a faithful standby to go for any questions and things to get ahead. And of course, when all else fails just contact Hacker and get him to Hack stuff. LOL. Oh and by the way, I found the coolest item in Redd's shop, it's called a wheat field and you can place it in your house and run thru it ala children of the corn.
Hopefully this is helpful and well overdue for people who don't have time to listen to every show or if the early episodes bore them to death!

How to plant a Bell tree:
Bury a shovel for 4 days and then dig up. It will be golden. Chop down an existing tree and plant a bell bag consisting of 30,000 belss in the hole. A few days later the fruit on the tree will be bags of bells. You can only have one bell tree in your town at a time.

The silver shovel in City Folk can be found when you go to the city after 8:00pm and running to the right past the cones and going into Resetti's secret survelance center and talking to him.

Shooting down packages:
Instead of carrying around your slingshot all the time, steadily buy them from Nook and place them all around your down in places you remember, like near rocks or important buildings, so when you see a package you can run to your nearest stash and shoot it down. I've found that if you enter your house to retreive your slingshot the package dissapears, so keep a slingshot at the ready. The Golden slingshot will float by after you have shot down 8 packages, and the packages usually contain Mario items.

Fishing:
Try and throw your bobber in front of the fishes line of sight, or throw it upstream a bit so that it floats down to them. Wait for the bobber to go completely underwater and quickly press the a button or jerk the Wiimote upwards. Don't run around the river or ocean fast because it can scare away the fish. The golden fishing rod is unlocked by catching all the fish possible.

Bug catching:
Some bugs are found on tree trunks, chopped down trees stumps, behind balls of snow, on flowers, fall out when you shake trees, come out of rocks when you hit them and are in the ground in general. Some are also over ponds and flying thru the air. Walk slowly when looking for bugs, and try and find the silver net as it makes things easier. The golden net comes when you catch all bugs possible. Some rare bugs are found on rare, hybrid flowers.

There is one bell rock in your town each day, hit it with your shovel repeatedly to get maximum bells. The golden shovel gives you a chance to get more bells than usualy.

Sometimes you can shoot down a UFO when it flys around your town, and if you help them out he will give you rare items.

Every item you buy from Nook's earns you points which go towards upgrading his store and getting you to a higher level where he gives you prizes. You can order items from his catalog that you have seen or bought. Some very rare items cannot be rebought, and neither can and 'oids or fossils i think.

To wifi with a friend, you must have your friend code in your friend roster, and they must have yours and one of you must have your gates open. You can't leave your gate open while the game it turned off, and if you do have friends over you can save the game and keep playing, or if you receive ninjas in your town, you can boot them by selecting end party option. I recomend saving your game often when friends are over because if your internet connection lags, then you won't have lost much progress.

There can be special visitors in your town, like Wendell who gives you a design based on what food you feed him, or Saharah, who gives you rare wallpapers in exchange for old ones you get from neighbors. It's been frustrating for me becuase my neighbors never have any. I think the more you give her all at one the rarer and cooler the wallpaper is. Paschal can be found near a bridge, and if you talk to him with a scallop in your pants then he will give you something from the pirate theme.

Donate money to your town and you will get upgrades to your town, first a new bridge, next a fountain which is needed to get the golden axe, and lastly your choice of either a lighthouse or a windmill. Everyone in your town with an active character (human) will have to vote on the upgrades before they will be completed.

Paint can be bought at Nooks when it gets some upgrades and it will change the color of your roof after you get all of the upgrades for your house. A flag will be placed next to your house when you completely pay off all of the debt for all of the upgrades for Nook.

Items you buy at The Able Sisters can be found in Nook's catalog if you need more. You can also place your designs there, and your neighbors will eventually pick them up and wear them, them maybe move away and take your designs with them.

You only have 3 rooms in your house to decorate, use space wisely. Put extra items in your drawers to store things.

Lucky items hold more value in your home, such as lucky cats, lovely phones, ect. They add more value to your overall HRA score. So does things that match, like having all of the Lovely series in one room. You can also wear lucky items, like a 4 leaf clover, which helps you find rarer items.

K.K. Slider can be found in the Roost every Saturday night around 8:00 pm. His bootleg copies can be put in your stero at home, or traded with friends. He will play many songs, but oly give the first one out as a bootleg.

You can earn interest on your bells that you save in the ABD machine.

Sometimes an animal you talk to will want to play hide and go seek. If you agree, it will but you and three other animals in front of the Town Hall, then you will have so many minutes, around 15, to find all three in your town. They were all behind trees for me.

oh, no, we're going to make it to 100 and beyond, you know as long as we can. Just letting you know we're going to get to episode 100, it just may not ALL be Animal Crossing Friends.
